The 7.62 mm AKM Kalashnikov assault rifle is intended as a individual weapon to eliminate enemy personnel and firearms. In combat, a bayonet-knife is attached to the riffle to damage enemy personnel.
The letter H next to the specification name (AKMH) indicates the possibility to mount various types of optical sights (day and night) located on the left wall of the barrel.
The machine gun uses 7,62x39 mm ordinary (PS), leaving a trail (T-45, T-45M), armored-piercing (BZ) and piercing (Z) bullet cartridges. In addition, special, speed-reduced bullet (US) cartridges are used to shoot from a machine gun equipped with a silencer (PBS-4 device for soundless and flashless shooting). Automatic or single firing is available. Automatic firing is considered the main type of firing and can be carried out by short (up to 5 shots), long (up to 10 shots) bursts, and continuous shooting.
During firing, the bullets are transferred from the magazine case of 30 bullets.
Operational range of the automatic is 1000m. The most effective firing from the automatic to ground targets is carried out at a distance of up to 400 m, and from aircraft, helicopters and paratroopers up to 500 m.
From the automatic to the ground group targets, the concentrated fire is carried out at a distance of up to 1000 m.
