9K58 Smerch is a Multiple Rocket Launcher System. This system was created in the late 1970s at the Splav (Tula) arms plant, under the leadership of the USSR. The Smerch system consists of a package of 300 mm 12 tubular rails, mounted on eight-wheel drive all-terrain vehicle. The system can launch all missiles in 38 seconds.

An improved 9A52M Smerch-M system is created in the early 1990s. The  9A52M “Smerch-M” system uses rockets with different warheads: 9M528, 9M525, 9M526, 9M527, 9M529, 9M530, 9M531, 9M534

 

Note: During the inspection by the specialists of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) of the identification number and as a result of additional investigation, it was determined that the missile engine part found in Alasgarli village of Tartar region belonged to a missile fired from "Smerch" Multiple Launch Rocket System.
